I definitely agree about wasting money on 17mm sockets!! I was working on my bike yesterday trying to fix the "infamous" Savage oil leak by re-torquing (sp?) the cylinder head cover bolts first (didn't work.. another story). Since I had the left and right side covers off, I thought I'd check the condition of the spark plug. I couldn't get it out using a normal 17mm socket so I went out and bought a 17mm deep socket. Didn't work and went to the local motorcycle shop and bought the right tool... a 17mm spark plug wrench. It's thin-walled and worked like a charm.
